Are You Ready for the Joint Commission Leadership Standard on Disruptive and Inappropriate Behaviors?

HealthStream is proactively taking steps to help hospitals prepare for the new Joint Commission Leadership standard that addresses disruptive and inappropriate behaviors in the healthcare setting. We are hosting two educational Webinars in January and February and have developed survey questions that focus on disruptive and inappropriate behavior for our Employee and Physician Insights surveys. These questions will provide hospitals the opportunity to identify units/departments where disruptive and inappropriate behavior is perceived to be an issue. It will also provide your organization with a performance baseline, trending in order to measure the effectiveness of policy implementation, and documentation that you are implementing a process for managing disruptive and inappropriate behaviors.

HealthStream is also developing courses on disruptive and inappropriate behaviors to help educate and train your staff. These courses will be available early 2009 and will play a key role in addressing issues and potential barriers causing disruptive and inappropriate behavior within your organization.

For more information on these products, please contact us at info@healthstream.com.

Knowledge Network Webinar: Linking Generational Differences and Disruptive Behaviors

Presented by:
Michelle O'Daniel, M.H.A., M.S.G.
Director of Member Services
VHA West Coast

Disruptive events are inappropriate regardless of the cause or stimulating factor. In addition to disruptive behavior, staff and clinicians do not communicate effectively. This may occur because of differences in generations, cultures, gender, and personalities.

This insightful Webinar will help your team take a deeper look at the link between generational differences and disruptive behavior and ineffective communication. Participants will understand the differences between the generations and how to better communicate with colleagues from other generations.

Michelle's expertise includes organization dynamics, group dynamics and workplace interactions. She has done many lecture/seminar presentations nationally and regionally in the areas of disruptive behaviors in nurse-physician relationships and generational differences. She is currently serving as the Director of Member Relationships at VHA West Coast, where she is responsible for working with over 100 hospitals to identify opportunities for Operational and Financial improvement and better customer relations. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D at the Fielding Graduate University in Human and Organization Dynamics with a focus on Nurse/Physician Relationships.
