Award Winners Announced

Congratulations to the 2006 winners of the HealthStream Research Excellence through Insight awards! The awards are based on the separate national databases built by The Jackson Organization and Data Management & Research. On March 12, 2007, HealthStream merged their research unit, known as Data Management & Research (DMR), with The Jackson Organization to form HealthStream Research. HealthStream Research now represents more than 1,100 healthcare facilities – 22% of the nation’s acute-care hospitals.

The awards are for Patient, Employee, Physician, and Consumer studies. To win, the client had to be at or above the 75th percentile rank, and they were given awards based on their percentile rank and means scores.

Success Story: Improve Patient Satisfaction Scores with Surgical Patient Advocates

St. Agnes Healthcare: Same Day Surgery
Baltimore, MD

Few things are more frustrating than not knowing what is happening to a loved one in surgery. If you don't tell families and loved ones what is happening in the OR, you can rest assured that they are imagining what is happening in the OR. Managing this frustration is possible, however, if you can keep them informed—in a timely manner—of what is happening behind the closed doors. After all, knowledge is power. By providing a dedicated Surgical Patient Advocate, St. Agnes HealthCare's Same Day Surgery was able to achieve the 93rd percentile rank in Overall Satisfaction when compared to Same Day Surgery units across the nation, as well as high scores for privacy and physician involvement (based on scores from the September to November 2006 measurement period).

Around the Office: HealthStream Research participates in Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day®

On Thursday, April 26th, employees of HealthStream Research were encouraged to participate in the Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work® Day. The Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work® Day is designed to expand opportunities for girls and boys, expose them to what adults in their lives do during the work day, show them the value of their education, and give them an opportunity to share how they envision their future. It is intended to be more than a career day. Each year, workplaces and adults around the country recognize its benefits and participate in the program to support our nation’s daughters and sons.

Not only did our employees step up to the challenge, but so did their children. This wasn’t a day of videogames in the corner while Mom or Dad went about their normal work day; the children were expected to participate around the office and learn. “My children’s school had very high expectations for this day. The children had to write a very detailed report about their day, explaining what they did and what they learned,” said Christine Gilbert, Vice President of Marketing.
