| Greetings from the President of HealthStream Research
It is a tremendous honor to greet you as the new President of HealthStream Research. HealthStream (NASDAQ: HSTM) is a leading provider of learning and research solutions for the healthcare industry, transforming insight into action to deliver outcomes-based results for healthcare organizations. HealthStream acquired The Jackson Organization on March 12, to build on the success of its existing Data Management & Research (DMR) unit to create HealthStream Research. Our combined patient, employee, physician, and community research services establishes HealthStream Research as one of the healthcare industry's premiere full-service research resources. HealthStream Research now represents more than 1,100 healthcare facilities — an astonishing 22% of the nation’s acute care hospitals.
So, what does all this mean to you? • HealthStream Research — now comprised of The Jackson Organization and DMR — will continue to provide valuable insight about patients' experiences, workforce engagement, physician relations, and community perceptions of hospital services.
• The excellent service you have received from The Jackson Organization and DMR will continue. Our healthcare experience grows even deeper. Through the same great people you have come to know and trust, HealthStream Research will be there as your research partner.
• Executives at client healthcare organizations will be presented with a compelling opportunity to transform insight into action with HealthStream's industry-leading learning solutions.
We are now one company. In the coming months, however, you may receive communications or documents that are represented as HealthStream Research, The Jackson Organization or DMR. While there may be a combination of names, please know that they are all coming from one organization — HealthStream Research. We are working to make the complete conversion as quickly as possible and appreciate your patience as we work through this process.
This is an exciting opportunity for all of us. I want to personally reassure each of you that the excellent service you’ve come to expect will continue. You’ll have the same contacts, the same experts, and the same dedicated voices on the other end of the phone.
The only substantive change you’ll experience is getting more — more services, more resources, and more capabilities to support your pursuit of excellence!
Sincerely,
J. Edward Pearson President HealthStream Research

| Success Story: Why Most Initiatives Fail—and How CHI Succeeds!
Catholic Health Initiatives
Certain observations remain fresh and vital, no matter how long ago they were made. The 80/20 Rule (also known as Pareto's Principle) speaks of the "vital few and trivial many," the principle that the ‘vital few’ 20 percent of virtually any endeavor are responsible for 80 percent of the results. Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) is a system with more than 70 hospitals, yet they’ve managed to succeed system-wide with impressive results time and time again—their Overall Patient Satisfaction results currently stand at 4.28, an improvement from an already-impressive score last year of 4.26. By focusing on the ‘vital few’, the core drivers that create the very foundation of patient satisfaction, over the years they have built excellence from the ground up.
