Overview
Today's healthcare organizations face the challenge of looking at their current "performance management culture" to determine whether it is working for them. Is it producing the desired organizational outcomes, levels of engagement with current staff and securing the workforce needed for tomorrow? There is growing evidence that Coaching and Mentoring are more effective as Performance Management strategies than more traditional, performance appraisal and ranking strategies. Coaching has been found to have had the highest business impact, followed closely by high-value job competencies and organizational aligned goals. Management's interest in employee well-being, staff having the ability to participate in challenging work and the possibility of career advancement are components of the "new" Performance Management that have been shown to affect Employee engagement.
